Our family dog, Katie, died today. We were buds for 18 years and I literally do not remember life without her. When I was 5ish I brought her home in this little wagon and my mom was so mad because we weren’t allowed to have dogs but my brother and I were so excited about her that we got to keep her and then my mom ended up being bffs with her. Even though she’s a tiny ass chihuahua she used to bark at and try to attack her shitty boyfriends when they’d yell at her and it was really cool being a tiny child and seeing a tiny dog stand up for my mom.
I was doing research for my last paper due tomorrow when my mom texted me and told me she had to talk to me and I almost wish I didn’t call her because now I feel like shit and somehow have to go to work and finish this fucking paper and it sucks because Katie was badass and I miss her and my mom is definitely sitting home alone crying right now and I wish I could go visit her.

Someone asked if I had any more shots of the head-shapes of the Pems and Cardigans. Sorry for the poor quality on the snapshot here, I had the pocket camera handy for this one and it was years ago.
But here, here’s Piper, Caleb, and Riley. Piper and Riles were both rescues, so… they really aren’t classic “breed type” when it comes to Pembrokes. But you really see Caleb’s head planes and ears in this — you want that big, wonderful round ear and that wider muzzle and broader head. :D
So many people ask me for these photos, and I can never give a real comparison!
Do y’all see the difference in the faces and ears? I think the pointy (Pemmies) vs rounded (Cardis) ears are more obvious in this photo. And see the face / muzzle, Pemmies are more foxy with a narrow nose. Cardigans have the broad face and muzzle.
